Melody Richards and Ashley Andrews recognized for their commitment to the University and the community

Cooperative Extension would like to congratulate Northern Area Finance Manager Melody J. Richards for being named the University of Nevada, Reno Classified Employee of the Month for February 2014 by the Staff Employees Council. She was recognized for her exemplary work in the face of budget cuts, reorganization, layoffs and the loss of a building lease.

“Cheerfully and without complaint, she found us a new facility we could afford and maximized our meager budget in a fight to reduce layoffs,” wrote Washoe County Administrative Assistant Ashley Andrews in Richards’ nomination. “Simultaneously, the restructuring of the college increased her responsibilities as Finance, Facilities and Human Resources Manager from three Nevada counties to seven. I do not know how she does it, but I appreciate her and all she does; the College of Cooperative Extension would not be the same without her.”

Cooperative Extension would also like to congratulate Andrews for earning the annual 2013 All-Star Award from Constant Contact, an email service that lets users send out marketing information to customers. Only 10 percent of Constant Contact users earn this award, and the award is based on how well users engage and build relationships with customers through Constant Contact’s services.

“Your efforts last year to reach your customers and engage with them were exemplary. Stellar,” wrote the company in her recognition email. “Your customers noticed and responded positively. And we certainly noticed. That’s why we’re so proud to name you to our roster of 2013 All Stars.”
